Instructor Assistant
Programs
We offer two programs for students to grow as leaders and share their
passion for dance, while demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ.
WORK STUDY
These students assist regular curriculum classes during our regular session (September-May). This is a training program for students who would like to be instructors as they get older. They are expected to memorize the curriculum for the classes they assist, and asked lead the class various times throughout the season. When the dancers lead class, the head instructor will evaluate their teaching skills. Dancers have meetings with head instructor to go over the evaluation and learn ways to improve their teaching style. This program teaches students accountability, time management, and patience. We love providing this opportunities for our middle school students to step up at leaders and become role models for our young dancers. Work study students earn a scholarship for their class tuition.
IDP head instructors nominate students ages 12 and up to join this program. Dancers who are nominated are expected to have the following qualities and skills:
at least 13 years old
Great attitude, work ethic, & dedication
Exceptional leadership skills
Good listener and applies corrections
Leads with love
Other requirements are:
The dancers nominated must be enrolled in at least TWO regular curriculum classes.
ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM
These students have went through the work study program and have been approved to assist advanced classes and substitute on occasion. These students may also be asked to instruct and help with other event such as camps, summer camps, and company rehearsals. These students are held to the higher standards that our work study students. They must have outstanding work ethic, leadership skills, and always be a light to others. These students must love all of IDP students unconditionally and demonstrate that love through their leadership and instruction. These students will earn a scholarship for regular curriculum tuition.
Assistant instructors must go through the work study program prior to join the assistant instructor program. However, there may be exceptions made due to age and maturity.
Requirements for assistant instructors:
at least 14 years old
Completed at least one year of work study
Great attitude, work ethic, & dedication
Exceptional leadership skills
Good listener and applies corrections
Leads with love
Other requirements are:
The dancers nominated must be enrolled in at least two regular curriculum classes.
